SETICON: PUBLIC SCIENCE CONFERENCE

(August 13-15, Santa Clara, Calif.)

SETIcon is a fun and educational weekend public conference August 13-15 in Santa Clara, California hosted by the SETI Institute. SETIcon will be a family friendly event that will appeal to everyone from the hard-core scientist or enthusiast who wants to know the nitty-gritty of how science really works, to the 5th grader interested in the wonders of space.

SETIcon features:
–Noted scientists explaining new developments in everyday language;
–Stars of science fiction TV series and movies, plus the advisors who helped with the science;
–Panels to air controversial issues and share perspectives;
–Special sessions where you can ask questions of your favorite guests in a smaller setting;
–Family room with hands-on activities (for kids 12 and older)

The conference fee is $35 for Saturday and Sunday only (banquet and Friday events extra.) Educators who attend may obtain 1 semester credit (upper division) via San Jose State University’s Bay Area Earth Science Institute (separate tuition fee).
